Is Jalen Hurts a member of the iconic fraternity Omega Psi Phi?

Jalen Hurts has quickly become one of the most respected players in the quarterback position in the NFL in his short football career. He is well on his way to establishing himself as one of the star quarterbacks in the NFL. Hurts had a remarkable year in 2022 as he ended the regular season with 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. In terms of rushing, the QB was able to run for 760 yards and had 13 trips to the endzone.

The 24-year-old quarterback was in contention to win the MVP award in the 2022-2023 NFL season as well and nearly won over Kansas City Chiefs in the Championship game. Jalen Hurts is also known for his social contributions. He does not just preach about supporting and giving back to the Black fraternity, but leads by example, just like other dynamic quarterbacks, Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray. In his first year in the NFL alone, he gave an estimated $60,000 to charity.

The explosive quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles football team has also made history, as he is the only NFL athlete who is managed by a remarkable team of four women. He is a member of the Klutch Sports Group and is repped by Chantal Romain and Shakeemah Simmons-Winter who take care of his media relations and client services management-related issues. His agent is Nicole Lynn, who became the first African-American woman to represent an NFL Draft pick after Hurts agreed to work with her, marking a historic day in history of American sports. Jenna Malphrus and Rachel Everett are also part of the QBs management team.

Jalen Hurts became a member of Omega Psi Phi in 2020

By this point, it is clear that Jalen Hurts makes history in whatever he does. The Alabama University graduate is also affiliated with a popular fraternity, one whose purpose aligns with his personal values, and one that works towards the betterment of the African -American community, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

The Omega Psi Phi is a historically African American Greek-lettered fraternity that was founded on the 17th of November, 1911, by three students from Howard University. The original founders were Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper, and Frank Coleman, who established it with help from their faculty advisor, Dr. Ernest Everett. The fraternity celebrated its centennial in July 2011 in Washington, DC, and is the third African American college frat to have been able to accomplish this feat. Omega Psi Phi literally means “friendship is essential to the soul.”

The fraternity prides itself on being a strong and effective force that is dedicated to its commitment to sports through cardinal principles of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and upliftment. Jalen Hurts is a quarterback who strongly believes in these values and, as a result, he pledged his affiliation with the frat in 2020. He made history this year as no quarterback who had pledged with Omega Psi Phi had started in the Super Bowl in nearly 23 years. Steve McNair was the last to do so in the year 2000. Meanwhile, Jalen Hurts’ parents are Averion and Pamela Hurts.
