Max Martini is an American actor, writer, and director. His roles include Saving Private Ryan, The Great Raid, and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, and television’s The Unit and Level 9.
Max is the son of Patricia, a private investigator and parole officer, and Raffaelle Martini Pandozy, a sculptor and reformist artist. His father is Italian, from Rome. His mother, who is from Texas, is of Irish, and one eighth English, ancestry. He is the brother of actor and producer Christopher Martini and costume designer Michelle Martini. Max is married to Kim Restell, with whom he has two children. His stepfather was film, theatre, and television actor and director Stuart Margolin.
Max was raised in Victoria, Canada, and New York City.
Max’s maternal grandfather was William Patrick Dunne (the son of Joseph Michael Dunne and Elizabeth Mary McCarthy/McCortley). William was born in El Paso, Texas. Joseph was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Irish parents, Patrick Conway Dunne, from Clonaslee, County Laois, and Bridget Mary Talty, from Breaffa, County Clare. Elizabeth was born in Madison, Kansas, to an Irish father, Eugene McCarthy, and a New York-born mother, Katherine Lyons, whose own parents were Irish.
Max’s maternal grandmother was Marion Patricia Briggs (the daughter of Charles Henry Briggs and Helen M. Marion). Marion was born in New York. Charles was the son of John Henry Briggs, whose parents were English, and of Nettie Ulton, whose parents were Irish. Helen was the daughter of Edward Thomas Marion, who was born in New York, to Irish parents, and of Ellen Mary Benam, who was born in Canada, to Irish parents.
